Not to be outdone, up in Scotland we had a few cup finals. Between 1940 and 1945, the Southern League Cup Final was played, with Rangers winning 4 of the 5 finals played (Hibs winning the other, in 1944).
Falkirk - Rangers' opponents in yesterdays Scottish Cup Final - lost 11-3 on corner kicks in the final of 1943: in those days, after extra time resulted in a drawn game, the number of corner kicks where counted to determine the winner.
The five games, all played at Hampden, drew an average crowd of 53,000.
